Isaac joint first in Nottingham Rapidplay!

The annual Nottingham Rapidplay was held on Sunday 16th February at Nottingham High School

A 6-round swiss tournament, a new innovation this year was an Improvers (U80 ECF grade) section, which attracted a good number of players, especially juniors. New member of our club Isaac Keenan had an excellent tournament, scoring 5.5 out of 6 to be joint first and won £75.

A good number of our players took part in the event across the different sections, including prizes in the Open!

In the Open, Shabir Okhai was joint second with 4.5/6, winning £37.50. Armaan Gogia and Anita Somton shared the grading prize by scoring 3.5/6, winning £10 each.

In the Major, Lavanya Maladkar finished on 3/6 with her sister Ritika just behind her with 2.5. Susie Wang finished on 2pts.

Joseph Hurst played the Intermediate, scoring 3.5pts.

Maksim Krasnov and Sebastian Griffin-Young were best placed in the Minor, on 3pts each. Kate Hurst and Jonah Tomsett both scored 2pts.

Finally, other players in the Improvers were Shambavi Hariharan (3pts) and Emily Gretton (1pt).

Congratulations to all the winners, and for everyone else for putting themselves to the test in a competitive tournament.
