Armaan Gogia wins Nottingham Rapidplay

This annual event was held at Nottingham High School on Sunday 29th January

Playing up a section in the Intermediates, Armaan was joint first with a great score of 5/6 and a prize of £75. This unfortunately meant him beating two West Nottingham compatriots, Hambel Willow and Vidura Mendis, who despite this both scored 4/6.

There were other successes for our players.

In the Open, Jonah Willow shared the U185 grading prize and was =4th, winning £10 with 3.5/6. In the Major, Adam Bennett was =6th and won the U145 grading prize of £20 with 4/6. Anita Somton (3.5) and Taylor Pearson (2.5) also competed.

Finally, in the Minor section, Lavanya Maladkar was =7th with 4/6. Ben Maddison and Joseph Hurst both scored 2.5.

It was encouraging to see so many of our juniors competing in this event, challenging the oldies and often winning!
