Nottingham Megafinal 2024
The annual event, part of the UK Chess Challenge, took place on Saturday 18th May at Nottingham High School.
Over 150 took part, and with prizes and qualifiers for ages under-8 to under-18, for boys and girls, there was plenty to play for! Those scoring 3.5pts or more also qualify to the Gigafinal held in July.
In the Under 8s, Samuel Neaga was 7th with 3pts out of 6.
In the Under 11s, Robin Sykes was unbeaten and won the boys' trophy, with 5.5/6. Harri Singh Aujla also qualified to the Gigafinal with 4pts.
In the Under 12s, Aryan Nair was 4th on tiebreak with a score of 4.5pts.
In the Under 18s, Eldars Gulijevs won the U15s (and the tournament) with 5pts, while Jonah Tomsett was top U16 with 4pts. Alex Clements finished with 2pts.
