Jonah beats GM to share 3rd in Nottingham Congress

In a personal milestone, Jonah Willow beat Mark Hebden in the 4th round of our local annual congress, held on 21st and 22nd April at Nottingham High School.

He fell just short in the final round, losing to IM Alan Merry who was winner of the Open. Jonah finished on 3.5/5 and won £25.

Also playing in the Open section, Anita Somton scored 2pts and Aditya Munshi 1.5/5.

There was also more success for Armaan Gogia, playing in the strong Major section. He also finished joint 3rd on 4/5, winning £30.

Also in the Major, Ritika and Lavanya Maladkar, playing a section higher then their grades, scored a creditable 2.5/5. Susie Wang also participated and finished on 1.5/5.

Meanwhile, in the Intermediate Vidura Mendis scored 1.5/5.

Finally in the Minor, Kian Chan finished on 2pts, Joseph Hurst on 1.5/5.
