Juniors feature on ITV News!

A number of West Nottingham players competed in the Junior Invitational to celebrate the Notts Chess Association Centenary.

The event was held at the Nottingham Mechanics Institute from 30th October to 3rd November, a 9-round round robin standardplay event. The Junior event ran alongside an IM/GM norm event featuring local players IM Jonah Willow and FM Ankush Kanderwal and a number of national and international players.

In the Junior invitational Senith Gunarathne and Dinuga Bansayake were joint second with a score of 7pts and won £62.50 each. Senith also shared the best game prize with Sebastian Griffin-Young (4th with 6.5pts).

The second best game prize was shared with Miheli Gunarathne. Best game prizes were adjudicated by Hambel Willow, who was arbiter for the Junior Invitational.

During the event a news crew from ITV Central came to report on it, and gave a big feature to Senith and Miheli!
