Mid-season review
Now we are half way through our season, how our are teams getting on?
West Nottingham run three teams in the Nottinghamshire Chess Association main league, plus a team in the 'Minor League' which is a rapidplay competition between four clubs to introduce players to competitive chess. In the main league, divisions have 7 or 8 teams of 4 players, teams play home and away against each other. There is relegation and promotion at the end of each season for top 2 and bottom 2, so results matter!
In Division 2, West Nottingham 1 are currently in 5th, with 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. This is a strong division, and we rely a lot on our top boards of Eldars and Senith to get results. Mike Herbert is captain.
West Nottingham 2 are in Division 3, 6th with 2 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses. This is our team of established adult players, run by Ed Jones. They are just off the relegation zone so need some good results.
In Division 4, West Nottingham 3 are a predominantly junior team, though captain Simon Scott steps in when numbers are short. They are bottom of their league with 2 wins and 4 losses, but there is everything to play for as only 4 points separate first from last!
Finally, in the Minor League, West Nottingham New Brooms are equal first with 2 wins and 1 loss, this is likely to go down to the wire.
You can follow the results and tables on our League Management System site. We are always looking out for new players, so don't be shy, you would be very welcome and can start your journey to an ECF rating!
