League successes for many of our teams
There was success this year for West Nottingham teams in both the Notts and Derbyshire leagues.
In the Nottinghamshire league we scored no less than two champions and another promotion as our teams dominated leagues 2, 3 and 4.
In Division Two, West Nottingham 1 were always frontrunners, and despite giving some crumbs to their opponents in the final match were never in doubt for promotion. Their consistency meant they were deserved Division Two Champions.
The same can be said for West Nottingham 2, who were always strong in Division Three with a potent mix of youth and experience. Champions also!
Division Four unfolded more unevenly. We had two teams in this division, Tracey Clegg's established team and Colin Smith-McGloin's junior team who had won Division Five in the previous season. Although they started the season slowly, West Nottingham 4 got into a good rhythm and were soon established in the top three, finally finishing the season as runners-up and promotion to Division Three. West Nottingham 3 just missed out in third place but should be confident for next season.
The only disappointment for the club were the Division Five teams, in which we struggled to find enough players to compete. A lesson for next season!
Finally, more success for West Nottingham B in the Derby and District League, who were promoted to Division 1 after narrowly missing out on champions' spot on game difference!
Congratulations to all the players and their hardworking captains, and not forgetting the irregular players who stepped in at late notice to make up the numbers, and in many cases had decisive results!
