League round-up for 2016

With 6 teams across 4 divisions in Notts and one in Derbyshire, it has been a busy year for West Nottingham. Here is a round-up.

In Division 2 we have two teams, WN1 and WN2. With the return of Alex Posazhennikov and a strong new recruit in Zhe Kang Law (who won the Sheffield Congress in June) it would look like a formality to promote straight back to Division 1. But a bad slip against Newark 2 has left the door open for WN2, who are equal on points at the halfway stage. Newark 1 are strong favourites in this Division as the only unbeaten team.

Division 3 has seen Tracey's Division 4 team promoted to WN3 by Alan Kenyon's "retirement", bolstered by Robert Willoughby as a regular. They have been unlucky to not win a match yet, having recorded 4 draws and 3 losses. A bit of luck should see them out of relegation trouble.

WN4 are newly promoted juniors from Division 5 who are justifying their place with some fine results. The withdrawal of Mansfield 2 has cost them a couple of places in the table but it is all to play for next year.

WN5 are mostly the older girl players who are showing a lot of commitment this year to get to their matches, with parental support helping John Crawley who is running 2 other teams! Though without wins so far, they have been a success as a training team to maintain match fitness for our older juniors.

Finally, in the Derbyshire league WNA are finding things tough in Division 2, and are currently facing a relegation battle. Let's hope the results go our way in the second half of the season!
