Anita wins British Rapidplay Intermediate

On the same weekend as Lavanya's triumph Anita Somton won outright the intemediate section of the British Rapiplay with first prize of £400.

The event is held over two days and eleven rounds, so is a test of stamina as well as skill. For the first time, the time control used Fischer time, 20 mins plus 10s increments. The Open and Major sections were FIDE rated as well.

Anita scored 8.5/11 and played all the top seeds. Congratulations on a great result!

Other West Nottingham players were also competing.

In the Open, Jonah Willow scored 6/11 and won a £10 grading prize. His final round was a well fought draw against an IM.

In the Minor, Armaan Gogia and Vidura Mendis also scored 6/11.

More details, including pictures of the winners and a crosstable of the Open, can be found on the British Rapidplay website.
