Andrew Watson wins at 4NCL International!

New recruit Andrew Watson scored an impressive victory in the 9-round tournament at Telford, held from 31st October to 4th November.

Due to a small entry in this section, he was mixed with the U1825 section and scored 6/9, a great result which won him £283 in prize money.

6/9 was also enough to be equal second in the U1825, a position shared with Lavanya Maladkar who won the same amount. Unfortunately the section was marred by a player who had to be disqualified after round 8 (when he had just beaten Lavanya) for having an electronic device. It may have been his suspiciously strong play against Lavanya which prompted the arbiters to scan him, which they had only employed in the Open section up to that point.

We had other winners in the tournament. In the U2050, Anita Somton was equal second on 6/9, winning £200, whilst Armaan Gogia won £100 rating prize. Ross Murphy also played in this section and scored 3.5/9.

Meanwhile in the very strong Open section, Jonah Willow finished on 4/9 having played 3 GMs, an IM and 2 FMs! Adi Munshi also did well to score 3.5pts.

Congratulations to all our winners and players! A full list of prizewinners and results can be found on the 4NCL website.
